The Green Knight2021

Finally……I got #MyShit that I can say is my most favourite film of the year so far.  David Lowery has got this distinct style of captivating viewers with his controlled pacing (Not for everybody), minimum spoon feeding and something so damn original (Best example - A Ghost Story). Both that and The Green Knight is not something you would expect after reading the name of the films. It’s totally opposite of “Generic” or “Typical” filmmaking. David doesn’t even sniff any kinda familiarities in the film except the title of the film. In A GHOST STORY, I never thought it would be about an exploration of a man after his death, experiencing a tragic and depressing after-life yet fascinating for me to experience all of it. In THE GREEN KNIGHT, I never thought it would be about a man who would experience a total makeover of his “Want to Achieve greatness” nature in the most mystical and fantastical way possible. Of course delicious ambiguity surrounding all of it which I always love. This is an Anti-King story - This subverts “Want to rule the world” attitude of the character beautifully into something so personal and coming-off age treatment kinda. “Why greatness? Why goodness is not enough?” Journey to achieve greatness turns into self-realisation of the highest level plus the realisation of weird mystical stuffs and war-torn fantasy - You can interpret this mystical part in any way you want (The green belt will haunt you hours after you finish watching - All the best)  THE ENDING…. Yes the ending 25 minutes or so is absolutely MAGNIFICENT. The whole ambiguous nature of it makes it even more epic after the last frame. Indeed #MyShit and will be interesting to see which 2021 movie might reach this level and dethrone this movie from No 1 position in  “My top films of 2021” list - DUNE MAYBE?…CANT WAIT.
