A really solid small town nightmare that's labeled as a slasher but the slashing takes a backseat to character development and emotional storytelling. Our lead coeds have their own personalities and motivations. The killers religious upbringing clearly caused him to snap but we don't waste time analyzing him. It's all subtext, almost like the director trusts the audience to have functioning brain cells. It's also timely! The film connects the murderous puritanical killer to the South, Confederate flags adorn the police station with a smiling portrait of Ronald Reagan, another monstrous serial killer. Disgusted by his sexual attraction to our protagonists, the killer mutters things about purifying the girls. If you listen hard enough, you can hear Herr Trump's rally playing on TV in the background
