Serpent's Path1998

Isn’t there any film where Kiyoshi gets it wrong. What a legend. Starts off as a straightforward revenge movie but man, it takes all the Kiyoshi’s restrained genius writing and structuring it in a way it’s completely unpredictable. Such a brilliant writing. There are some clever implications of character’s motivation, past, trauma and as usual Kiyoshi doesn’t spell it out loud. Such an engrossing experience this was. That phenomenal ending is just Kiyoshi telling why he’s one of the best at creating distinctive masterpieces in a genre that is now more or less exploited by many directors with their typicalities.
