Zemeckis-fest While definitely an enjoyable time, it’s not quite as strong or unique to me as either of Zemeckis’ previous films. This is an Indy rip-off, make no mistake, but still fun and very 80s. It just comes off a little too generic. There’s not really a reason to watch this over a similar film, even other adventure films or Indy-likes. I like the set-up of an adventure romance writer who gets swept up in an adventure of her own; it’s just a shame that her own adventure isn’t very interesting. Maybe on a different watch at a different time, this will play better for me, but I just wasn’t in love with it. Well made, and I like parts of it, but the whole thing fell that much short. For me, this is just a stepping stone to something much greater.
