People's hype around films is the issue of Kollywood Raayan was one such film which got branded as "mediocre" because of expecting more out of it than it had to offer The first half was a banger The second half lacked a strong villain not just the writing of "Sethu", SJ Surya himself wasn't looking deadly as a Villain. Dhanush was way more deadlier than all the characters in the film which also makes SJ Surya look weak.
