Pushpa: The Rise2021

While reviewing such films, I always keep the genre in mind because I tend to dislike such films easily as it’s done and dusted formulaic stuffs.  After trailer I thought this will be those kinda massy film that I might give 1/5 but it was decently likeable enough for me to give it 3/5. But it didn’t do anything different in this commercial zone. It had mostly formulaic stuffs and for that reason I couldn’t give this more than 3 rating. Allu Arjun though is stunning. I mean absolutely stunning. 5/5 for his performance.  I compare this with KGF because there too Lead character is trying to climb up the ladder to be the most powerful leader of gold mafia. That is also a similar genre. But what KGF did that Pushpa didn’t was in the technical part. Technically KGF was brilliant, it had great cinematography, cool set pieces especially climax,  even if action sequences were typical, shots/framing made KGF seem fresh. Overall idea of the plot and world seemed fresh.  Pushpa couldn’t do that as a whole for me but it wasn’t bad either. Much much better than many such films especially the recent Rohit Shetty’s pathetic Sooryavanshi. Pushpa is not at all a bad setup for a sequel.
