There’s enough detective tropes here but it never bothered me mainly because of the immersive treatment of it all, especially the darker yet philosophical tone (Barring the unnecessary comedic tone in the beginning). Lead characters are solid. There are clever deceptions at times that doesn’t seem conveniently added. It’s dense. My main issue with the film was how the lead character is presented to us initially - Comedy treatment I believe wasn’t needed  considering the way that character is developed later in the film. Nonetheless some of the clever call backs to the earlier scenes towards the end is beautifully executed. Plus marks for that. Overall very very “True detective” like treatment which I liked. Yes, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s season. Ashok selvan and Sarathkumar can really take this story forward into sequels. Great comradery and performance.
