Petite Maman2021

This may seem very safe compared to what Céline Sciamma did with her last gem “Portrait of a lady on fire” but have some patience because what she has done here is one of the most beautiful thing ever to happen in DRAMA genre. This mostly I have seen in foreign language films where a drama film is taken to another level by making screenplay more intriguing than usual. Initially what may seem like a straightforward story of a girl who just recently lost her grandmother but narrative takes a breathtakingly beautiful turn that connects her present to past. The way this happens is so seamless. One might even take this as a time travel film but not too Sci-fi-y. This is much more mundane, sweet and simple. Small film but Celine produced another GEM nonetheless.
