penelope is what you get when a rich girl with a pig nose finally says, “screw it,” and escapes her mansion to live a little. christina ricci is cute as ever, james mcavoy is your classic charming mess, and the whole movie feels like a whimsical fairytale with a side of eyeliner and awkward flirting. it’s not trying to be deep....it’s just fun, weird, and kind of heartwarming. real moral of the story? love yourself :) and rich people stink. literally and metaphorically.
