The Scorses-a-thon There have been touches and glimpses of classic Hollywood in each of Scorsese’s films so far, and it is clear how much love he has for them. But here his love is on full display, and he makes a beautiful classic film his way, with production design approaching Wes Anderson levels of exaggeration and facsimile. This is a masterpiece expertly crafted in every way, pulling out all the stops.  Minnelli and De Niro, what a pairing. Beautiful music and performances. Tragic in that Scorsese way. But also incredibly, incredibly funny. This movie has made me truly love Scorsese.  A must-watch.
