Suzu, the daughter of a dry cleaner, is attracted to Ryoichi—a customer—and tries to force a sexual encounter, only to be rejected. Meanwhile, her mother Akiko, who is involved with a human rights volunteer group, is asked to hire a middle-aged man at the shop—a man who has just been released from prison after serving time for kidnapping a young girl.
