“Got more hair on my arms than a Monchhichi! And I'll finish this battle like it's Jumanji!” While the newer films are still a fun time, they don’t have a single ounce of the sauce that this one has. It works so well because of the balance between humor and genuine horror. Obviously, Robin Williams is then perfect for this kind of film. It seems like all media nowadays is aimed at younger and younger audiences, and I think this lack of respect for children’s intelligence is a leading factor in how children in turn are becoming less intelligent. There is a genuine lack today of love of adventure, imagination, learning, and many other things that are so key to the growth of a child. Our overlords’ effort to make us endlessly desire instant gratification has extended to our children, and in turn, they are more spoiled and less curious.  Society bla bla bla Anyways, old stuff good, new stuff bad, yada yada.  This movie is brilliant. Exciting, charming, frightening, and fun. And one of my absolute favorites.
