Interview with the Vampire1994

The gayest movie I’ve ever seen? There is a lot to like here and the vibes are always immaculate. However all the pieces don’t really feel like they all come together.  for instance the Antonio banderas section seems to only exist to kill off Kirsten Dunsts character which is a shame because I think she is the most interesting part of the movie.  Tom Cruise, of course, is fantastic in this. I especially love the scene where his decaying body plays the piano. The makeup is amazing and it’s shot just beautifully. He plays devilish rogues with such ease and as such is wonderfully suited for this role.  Pitt on the other feels terribly stilted. He’s treated like he’s some special thing for not being corrupted and having some sense of morality but over and over throughout the film he is given opportunities to do the right thing or to fight Lestat or do anything and he just lets lestat do whatever as if not taking part doesn’t make him complicit. Maybe that’s the point. I don’t know.  I just think this movie suffers from the adaptation curse and it feels like many important elements were left on the cutting room floor.  I would definitely recommend this but I guess in my head I expected more.
