Sam Raimi famously said you can slap evil dead on a film's title as long as it includes 1) the book of the dead and 2) deadites. Thats all you need! I like Raimi's requirements because it allows new directors to make each film uniquely their own. However, I think Sam needs to add just a few more requirements: 3) 90 minutes or less and 4) practical effects should be a selling point. The third act felt like the third act to a rejected Marvel movie: an action movie with a shallow cgi 'final boss' who chases our lead. The two post-credit scenes don't help comparisons to Marvel. Especially that last one. Ugh, so is she our new Thanos? Anyway, the movie had potential until the final 20 minutes. In other words, the movie went to shit on the 91st minute. Maybe im onto something The "its too mean" discourse is silly. You need Bruce Campbell to set the original tone and hes retired Ash, so id rather they not try to emulate the Raimi movies.
