Now there is nothing left but destruction. The simple existence of Voyager and the golden disk show far we had come as a nation and as a species and now they only exist to show how far we have fallen.  —— I really wanted to give this movie 4-4 1/2 stars but there some plot stuff that doesn’t work for me. Like if stitch can be about an alien who finds a family on earth why can’t we have a movie about a human who finds a family in space. It seems counter to the films own message.  He found a place where he felt at home and was welcomed with open arms. He should give that up because…? His aunt finally gave a shit? She only cared after she realized he was missing. Never gave any effort to understand him before then.  And I get she lost her brother but Elio lost BOTH his parents. And obviously everything he does is in response to that. And she is unnaturally suited to understand and help him and just doesn’t even try. Whatever.  I do love that the alien dad destroys his armor to help his son with no prompting from anyone else. The implication being that he always understood his son and the armor would have always been the son’s choice.  It’s not too far off from classic Pixar but just misses the mark for me. Could see myself potentially giving it four stars on a rewatch.
