Blood Tracks mashes The Terminator (1984), The Hills Have Eyes (1977), and Hot Dog (1983) with This is Spinal Tap (1984) to bring you an ambitious horror movie where a hair band lands a chopper on a remote snow-covered mountain to film a music video ... MTV's been around a few years at this point, so this is probably a big deal. Anyway, hill people found their arrival intrusive. Anyone who's seen Wes Craven's THHE knows not to anger hill people. And I've honestly never seen Hot Dog, but all the sleazy ski movies I've seen come from the late 80s/early 90s. Spinal Tap is obvious - its a hair band. But why Terminator? Well the final-ish act in the factory felt like Arnold looking for Sarah Conner in the dark. TBPH, I was thinking about Terminator fighting T-1000 in T2 - you know, like how the scaffolding and mesh wire steps and whatnot creates shadows that look kinda cool and scifi. But as I was saying, this was ambitious - the set pieces are pretty elaborate, lots of wide majestic shots of the snow covered mountains, great 80s styles, fun practical effects and more than one severed head. What more could you want? Well - there's one more thing I'd want from this movie ... better sex scenes. My god, the two I remember most shot the actors on the bed, girl on top but parallel and horizontal, and all you can see is the guys' thighs that melded together with his waist and abdomen, so it looked kinda like this lady was on top of the inflatable pilot from Airplane (1980) - perhaps another inspiration? I'm watching the credits roll as I write this. The song playing is pretty badass
