Back to the Future Part II1989

Zemeckis-fest Definitely a messier movie than the first, with a lot of retreading, partially I’m sure due to the four-year gap between films. It also definitely suffers from middle-movie-itis, with everything only feeling as a means to get to part three.  It’s still incredibly entertaining, and it’s fun just hanging out with these characters. But it just feels like a lot of unnecessary and pointless stuff, like the whole chicken thing. What is that about? It kind of actually ruins Marty’s character, and it’s a weird addition where they act like it was always part of him, but it’s literally not. Just odd.  That ending is pretty cool though, where Marty receives the letter, and it raises a good question of how Marty will get back to the doc. But I don’t know if we needed this whole movie to get to that point.  Now let’s go back one last time.
