“I spit on your grave” kinda film I have seen plenty but I think India came close to something solid in this film only. The most impressive thing it did is something totally opposite of what “I spit on your grave” or many such rape-revenge drama did. Immediately after shocking rape sequence, girl doesn’t become a revenge machine or just doesn’t get to know martial arts and starts beating up. Infact there’s no fighting in this. Here writing is mostly real. It’s developed in a way we feel her pain and we see why she developed the attitude of taking revenge. How some victimised characters influence her. Scenes before the last act were absolutely amazing. Where the film goes down is in terms of cheesy dialogues and some obvious convenience. Where it scores is it surprises multiple times. Even the climax. It’s deliberately unsatisfying yet satisfying. I can’t explain this feeling. But even with all the commercial elements there’s some realism and moral ethics in this film that impressed me. Rima is too good in a lead role. Fahad as expected great. Ashiq Abu (Who made amazing Virus recently) obviously seems not experienced or had depth that we saw in VIRUS. But still he made a much better version of “I spit on your grave” where many others get trapped in cliches and exaggeratingly gory.
