The MCU Timeline

There are two ways to watch the MCU: the order the movies came out, and the order the universe actually lived them. The second one stopped being simple years ago; time heists, branch timelines, a fork in 2012 that grew its own TV show, and now three separate universes converging on Avengers: Doomsday.

So I visualized it: queuebrick.com/mcu is the whole MCU as one transit map: 71 stops on the main line, films, shows, and specials, seated in Marvel's own official in-universe order, which I audited entry by entry. The One-Shots are on it. The disputed seats keep their disputes: hover Thor: The Dark World and it will tell you Marvel insists it comes before Iron Man 3, even though Iron Man 3's own calendar disagrees.

The tangent universes

• X-Men opens Earth-10005, the Fox films, forked in 1973 by Days of Future Past and carried into the MCU by Deadpool & Wolverine.
• Spider-Man seats both legacy Peters, Tobey's Earth-96283 and Andrew's Earth-120703, each merging into No Way Home, where they crossed and went home. Nothing past that is confirmed, so the map stops there too.
• Doomsday canon doesn't add a lane, it highlights one: a green Doom tag on the sixteen titles whose characters are officially confirmed for the movie, including Marvel's own X-Men and X2 homework.

With everything switched on, the map runs 89 stops across five lanes.
